Burstful Diligence: A Dynamic Workplace for VRBO in Orlando
For my Studio 3 project, I designed a vibrant workplace for VRBO, located in the energetic city of Orlando, Florida. This project marked a pivotal point in my studies, as I tackled the challenge of learning to construct comprehensive Construction Document Sets while also mastering advanced digital modeling and rendering with Revit, Enscape, and Procreate. Through extensive site and client research, I developed a design that celebrates VRBO's adventurous spirit and fosters a culture of creativity and collaboration. Inspired by the brand’s tropical color palette and commitment to community, the workspace features organic curves, natural light, and materials that reflect the lively energy of its team. 'Burstful Diligence' redefines the modern workplace as a space where productivity meets inspiration, seamlessly blending work and play.

Within this energetic atmosphere, bursts of creativity and collaboration thrive. Specific to VRBO, unique brand elements, such as their tropical color palette, seamlessly integrate into the environment, reinforcing a sense of adventure and community among team members. The Process

Setting the Stage for a Vibrant Workplace Design


The design process for 'Burstful Diligence' began with an in-depth analysis of VRBO’s brand identity, the building’s architectural context, and the surrounding Orlando environment. Understanding the client’s values, such as fostering creativity, collaboration, and a sense of adventure, was integral to shaping my approach. I explored the site’s unique features, including its accessibility and natural light potential, to maximize functionality and ambiance. From these insights, I developed mood boards that captured VRBO’s tropical color palette, fluid forms, and energetic spirit. These foundational steps guided the creation of a concept that not only reflects the brand’s identity but also enhances the workplace experience for its dynamic team.

The Concept

Following my initial site, building, and client analysis, I created a mood board to visually communicate the design direction for 'Burstful Diligence.' The mood board encapsulated VRBO’s adventurous and vibrant brand identity, featuring a tropical color palette, organic forms, and dynamic textures that reflect the company’s energetic spirit. Inspired by the Orlando environment, I incorporated elements of natural light and fluidity to emphasize the connection between work and play. This visual tool became the cornerstone of my design process, ensuring that every decision aligned with the client’s values and the project’s concept.

Schematic Design: Bringing the Vision to Life


Using my research as a foundation, I moved into the schematic design phase to shape the spatial and functional aspects of 'Burstful Diligence.' This involved creating bubble diagrams, adjacency diagrams, and block diagrams to define spatial relationships and circulation patterns within the workplace. I developed initial drafts of floor plans, reflected ceiling plans (RCPs), and furniture layouts, ensuring the design met the needs of VRBO’s dynamic workforce while reflecting the brand’s adventurous identity. Additionally, I produced early sketches of key areas, integrating organic forms and bursts of color inspired by my concept. These schematic elements provided a clear framework for a workspace that fosters creativity, collaboration, and a sense of community.
